Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre "The Nutcracker" for School Groups| Dec 16-18

Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre is offering three daytime performances of its professional production of *The Nutcracker *for school groups.  These performances are a wonderful opportunity to introduce young people to the performing arts through an engaging, accessible, and fun production.

Fully Fund BPS Rally March 21

Parents from across Boston will connect City Hall to Court Street showing that public education is a top priority. As the Boston School Committee prepares to vote on the budget (March 28) parents, families, and friends are taking a stand for children! Meet on Wednesday, March 21, at noon, at City Hall Plaza, (accessible via Government Center or State Street MBTA stop). This event is organized by "Invest in Our Future: Fully Fund BPS, a Facebook group of BPS parents." Check out the event on facebook here.

BPS Charter School Showcase Feb. 4

Come and learn about Boston's best schools at the Charter Public School Showcase on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at Boston University's Fitness and Recreation Center, 915 Commonwealth Ave. 

Charter schools are public schools. They are free of charge and open to all school children in grades K-12. Come by and  learn about the schools with some of the best MCAS scores in the city! Have your questions answered and complete applications for the fall 2012 school year. Enrollment for each school is determined by lottery, which will be held in March. MCA Information Session Jan. 18

On Wednesday, January 18,  from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mother Caroline Academy and Educational Center is holding Admission Information sessions for the 2012 / 2013 school year for students entering grades 4 and 5. Black People for Better Public Schools Dec. 8

On Thursday, December 8th, Black People for Better Public Schools will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting in the Codman Square Library from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The black community will come together to decide educational priorities and expectations during the three year contract of Superintendent Carol Johnson that will end in 2014. At the meeting, topics such as school closings, graduation rates among black and latino students, and hiring black teachers will be addressed. Henderson / Harbor Fundraiser @ Blarney Stone Nov. 3

On Thursday, November 3, there will be a fundraiser to support the Henderson/Harbor Schools partnership. All are welcome! The event will be at the Blarney Stone, where you can enjoy drinks and snacks upon admission. Project D.E.E.P. Info Night Oct. 18 & 20

Project D.E.E.P. is hosting a private and parochial school info night on Tuesday, October 18th and Thursday, October 20th, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Leahy - Holloran Community Center. The Association of Independent Schools in New England is sponsoring a private school fair on Sunday, October 2nd. The fair will be held at the Blue Hill Boys and Girls Club at 15 Talbot Ave. in Dorchester from 1:00 - 3:30 PM. The fair will include as many as fifty different day and boarding schools. The schools include pre-kindergarten, kindergarten through twelfth grade, and postgraduate levels of education. If you are considering the possibilities for Fall 2012, now is the time to start looking at your options. Visitors would have the chance to speak to representatives, learn about the admissions process, along with the mission, culture, and programs of a wide variety of schools.
