Freedom Public Art Project Artists' Presentations Meeting | Oct. 20

VietAID has received a planning grant from the Edward Ingersoll Browne Fund, a public charitable trust administered by the City of Boston, to select an artist for a public art project on Town Field in Fields Corner.

Join us as the three finalists (Juanjo Novella, Joe O’Connell and Anh Tranh) present their design concepts and answer questions. Design concepts will be on view at the Fields Corner Library from Oct. 21 - 29.

Mỹ Gala is the culmination of decades of civic participation by Vietnamese immigrants and refugees who, since 1975, have worked to build a strong and active community in Boston.Last year, more than 600 people attended this event. Tickets are $100 per person. Special prices are available for students and seniors. 

This year’s Mỹ Gala, hosted by Charlotte Golar Richie, will honor Ambassador Ray Flynn, former Mayor of Boston; Harvard's Boston Refugee Youth Enrichment Program; and Ms. Quynh Dang, VietAID’s founding Chairperson, the founding Board, and Long Nguyen, the first ED.

Bloomfield Gardens Ribbon Cutting Ceremony | May 31

VietAID will have a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Saturday May 31 at 9am. The ceremony will take place at 455 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester. Bloomfield Gardens is a new construction building in Fields Corner that is changing the face of Dorchester's busiest neighborhood. Located steps away from the newly renovated Fields Corner T stop, it provides 27 workforce affordable rental housing units with easy access to public transportation. The $10.6M dollar project was funded by public sources that include the City of Boston, the State's Department of Housing and Community Development, and by tax credit equity provided by the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation. Viet-AID's Peer Leadership Program is hosting a Community Forum on May 27 from 4:30pm to 5:45pm. The forum will take place at the Vietnamese American Community Center (42 Charles Street in Dorchester). Fields Corner Public Art Project Community Meeting | May 7

On Wednesday, May 7 the Fields Corner “Freedom” Public Art Project will host a Community Meeting. This meeting will take place at the Vietnamese American Community Center located at 42 Charles Street from 6:30-8 pm. Viet-AID has received a planning grant from the Edward ingersoll Browne Fund, a public charitable trust administered by the City of Boston, to select an artist for a public art project on Town Field in Fields Corner. Take Back the Night! Dorchester | April 24

In honor of Denim Day, Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) is hosting a Take Back the Night.

The night's purpose is to raise awareness around sexual violence. There is a march followed by a safe and healthy space for survivors and other community members to connect, share stories and raise awareness around sexual violence. Also, there will be patch making for Denim Day. The patches will have anti -rape, anti- victim blaming and anti- sexual violence messages on them. So bring your powerful voices, creativity and minds to Take Back The Night!

Lunar New Year @ Viet-AID | Feb. 23


Don't miss the Lunar New Year Festival presented by Viet-AID. The event will be held at the Vietnamese American Community Center (42 Charles St in Dorchester) from 11am to 3pm on Febuary 23. There will be food, music and entertainment including a variety of cultural and traditional performances. Admission is free and all are welcome!

Join Viet-AID in celebrating the 2013 Lunar New Year at the Tet Festival Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 11:00am until 3:00pm. There will be Lion Dances and Firecrackers to start the New Year the right way! Come meet your neighbors and enjoy some fun times.
