Public Safety Meeting @ Viet-AID, May 23

Viet-AIDPublic safety concerns will be the topic of a Monday evening in Fields Corner. Viet-AID is sponsoring the meeting, which will take place at 6 p.m. Monday at the Vietnamese-American Community Center on Charles Street. The meeting is prompted by what Viet-AID calls a “rash” of violence and thefts in that area. To join the community discussion, come to 42 Charles Street on Mon, May 23 at 6:00 p.m. 

Viet-AID Launches Summer Program for First Grade Students

Viet-AIDViet‐AID is excited to host a new annual summer program for first grade students. The program, which runs July 11 to August 19 in Fields Corner, is designed to provide youth who are English Language Learners an opportunity for academic and cultural enrichment over the summer. It offers half‐day programming, with a strong focus on literacy instruction. The program includes breakfast, three hours of literacy instruction and lunch. Students must be English Language Learners, have finished with K2 (rising 1st graders) and attend Boston Public Schools. Community Meeting on Public Safety, Mar. 8

Recently there has been some community concerns about safety and security at Shawmut Station in Dorchester.  A public meeting has been arranged to make sure these acts of violence are brought to the attention of the community and action is taken to prevent further attacks. This could happen to anyone who lives and works in Dorchester.  Therefore Viet AID would like invite you to a public forum to discuss how as a community we can best deal with this public safety issue.  Police leaders from C-11 Area and MBTA will be at the meeting and all residents are encouraged to attend and voice any concerns. Viet-AID's after-school program runs during the academic year of the Boston Public Schools (BPS), from 3:00PM-6:00PM each day for 3rd to 7th grades. The beginning portion of the day we provide homework help, support and tutoring. Any additional time at the end of the day is spent on academic enrichment and fun, cultural activities.

All student in the After School Program are referred to Viet Aid by partner elementary and middle schools. For more information on joining the After School Program, please contact Jessica Ranucci at 617-822-3717 x 26 or HoaMai Nguyen at 617-822-3717 ext. 22.
