musiConnects presents The Boston Public Quartet and pianist Joy Cline Phinney in concert, opening with Mendelssohn's String Quartet in E minor, Opus 44 No. 2, and concluding with the monumental Brahms F minor Piano Quintet Opus 34. This concert is free and open to the public. 

musiConnects is a non-profit organization created to establish and support educational and artistic residencies, in the Greater Boston area, based on chamber music. The common goal of the musiConnects community is to bring together people from a variety of backgrounds to meet and communicate through a shared language of music

Celebrating Black History with Music | February 12

Wednesday, February 12 between 4pm-6pm, Boston musician, Bill Lowe (trombonist and tubaist) will connect children with Black History Month through music.

Location will be at the Codman Square Branch of the Boston Public Library at 690 Washington Street Dorchester, MA.

This event is free and suitable for children ages 6-12 (with accompanying adult)

African Drumming Workshop with Mohamad Kalifa Kamar | December 19

African Drumming Workshop with Mohamad Kalifa Kamar, Thursday, December 19, 2013, 4 – 5pm. This event will be held in the Grove Hall Branch of the Boston Public Library (41 Geneva Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02121)
Mohamad Kalifa Kamara, a master drummer and dancer, began his career in Gambia where he started his own dancing and drumming group. For this workshop, Mohamad will explain to youth the history of drumming and how drums are used as a form of communication in African villages. Participants will also have the opportunity to play Mohamad’s various drums. For children ages 6 and up.
This event is free and is open to the public. Space is limited; please register with the children’s librarian.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH, 2013 • 3-8 PM, the Boston Teachers Union Hall will be having a Back to School Bash / Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Fundraiser. There will be music, dancing, & food. For 21+ there will be a cash bar. All of the proceeds collected will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Join us for an afternoon of singing, music, and TANGO!


Tango singer, John Iversen’s CD Release Party will be held at the Great Hall of Codman Square Health Center, 637 Washington Street, Dorchester, MA. The party is a benefit for the AIDS Care Project at Pathways to Wellness and the Gossace Orphanage-Uganda. A silent auction will benefit the Healing our Community Collaborative.


All are welcome. Suggested ticket price $15.00; kids under five free.
