Family Fun Day: Fields Corner Children Thrive Kick-Off Event, Jul. 9

Field's Corner Children ThriveEarly Years are Learning Years! Come support school readiness by attending the kick-off event for Fields Corner Children Thrive, a division of Boston's Thrive in 5 - Boston's early education initiative! Stop by with family and friends for resources, fun, entertainment, and a free lunch if you register by July 5th. This event is designed for young children (ages 0-5) and their families to talk, read and play! Families with children ages 0-5 are invited to enjoy the New England Aquarium's Traveling Tidepool; watch the Children's Musem "Countdown to Kindergarten" traveling play at 10 or 11 a.m.; engage your toddlers in an African Drumming circle; enter ongoing raffles for gift cards, memberships to the Dorchester House pools and to Healthworks, and other great prizes; and meet other parents in the area.

Nurturing Smart Prenatal Moms, Begins May 27

Are you pregnant? Learn about stages of pregnancy, infant massage, nurturing yourself and much more! Come and meet other pregnant moms at Smart from the Start, Franklin Field BHA, 70 Ames Street, Dorchester, beginning Friday, May 27, 2011. This 9-session program will run weekly on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Learn more about taking care of baby and you! Continental breakfast and child care provided.

Outreach Event for Children and Families, Jun. 4

BGC DorchesterPlease join the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester on June 4, 2011 for an outreach event directed at children and families. This fun and social event features games, music, literacy activities, free dental screenings, opportunities to meet other families, a school bus tour for "first-time riders," refreshments and much more. Event runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester, 1135 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA 02125. Is your child going to Kindergarten? At 3:30 p.m., BGC will host the DW Counts Down to Kindergarten Play, in which Arthur the Aardvark helps his little sister D.W. learn some helpful things about going to Kindergarten. Questions? Viet-AID Launches Summer Program for First Grade Students

Viet-AIDViet‐AID is excited to host a new annual summer program for first grade students. The program, which runs July 11 to August 19 in Fields Corner, is designed to provide youth who are English Language Learners an opportunity for academic and cultural enrichment over the summer. It offers half‐day programming, with a strong focus on literacy instruction. The program includes breakfast, three hours of literacy instruction and lunch. Students must be English Language Learners, have finished with K2 (rising 1st graders) and attend Boston Public Schools.
