World No Tobacco Day Action & Press Conference, May 31

Boston Alliance for Community HealthJoin the Boston Alliance for Community Health for World No Tobacco Day, on May 31, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Boston City Hall Plaza /Government Center Station. A 4 p.m. press conference will bring this issue to the forefront of the public's hearts and minds! See the 1200 shoes representing the lives lost every day in the US due to tobacco use and exposure. Support efforts to reduce the demand for tobacco products. Learn about cessation resources for smokers. Dorchester Food Coop Initiative Public Planning Meeting, May 25

DEHCInterested in fresh food, local agriculture, improving your community and collaborating wiht your neighbors? Come to the Second Planning Meeting of the Dorchester Food Coop Initiative on Wednesday, May 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Meeting will take place at the Bowdoin Street Health Center, Large Conference Room, 230 Bowdoin Street, Dorchester, MA 02122.

HRiA is an innovative and unique organization combining consulting services with public health programming. HRiA offers free training to the community and maintains an extensive health research library. Trainings are offered on broad subjects such as evaluation, coalition building, collaborative leadership, engaging diverse populations, etc. as well as topical areas such as asthma, substance abuse, tobacco, violence, teen pregnancy, and leadership.
