Fall Bird Walk | October 11

Friday at 8:00am – 10:00am  the Boston Nature Center will give children an opportunity to observe the resident birds and fall migrants in their habitat. You will be able to view field marks, hear their sounds and learn about their behaviors. This is a guided walk, binoculars are available upon request. This Event is suitable for children and families. Registration is preferred which can be done online or call 617-983-8500 to register by phone.

Boston Compost Visioning Meeting @ BNC March 29

Boston Nature Center will be hosting a Boston Compost Visioning Meeting on Thursday, March 29, at 3:00 p.m. Come together with others interested in working together to improve and expand composting in the City of Boston. Explore the history of composting in Boston, the status of current Boston leaf composting program, which will involve a viewing or tour of the site. Snowshoeing at Boston Nature Center!

Go for a wintery hike without leaving the city! When snow is on the ground, the public is welcome to go snowshoeing at Boston Nature Center! The center is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Snowshoe rental for 2 hours is $6.00 for members and $8.00 for nonmembers. Adult and child sizes are available! The center will also be hosting special events - a Guided Snowshoe Walk on Sunday, January 15 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and a Family Snowshoe Walk on Saturday, January 21, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Call ahead to ensure available snowshoes: 617.983.8500.

'Birds and Brew' @ Boston Nature Center! Nov. 4

Have a Birds and Brew logohoot, and support Boston Nature Center's education programs!

The Boston Nature Center will be hosting "Birds and Brew" on Friday, November 4 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. This event will include free beer tastings from local breweries, including: Blue Hills Brewery, Cambridge Brewing Company, Clown Shoes Beer, Cody Brewing Company, Harpoon Brewery, Jack's Abby Brewing, Mystic Brewery, and Sam Adams Brewery. Hear live music from the Plantsmen, compete in trivia contests for prizes, eat great pub food and of course - there will be bird demonstrations by the Blue Hills Trailside Museum!

Rockin' with Raptors Festival, Sep. 24

Come to the Boston Nature Center on Saturday, September 24 and celebrate the ninth anniversary of the George Robert White Environmental Conservation Center! This event features great entertainment, including Live Raptors from Blue Hills Trailside Museum, the Animal Adventures Petting Zoo, the New England Aquarium Touch Tank, face painting and arts & crafts and Branches Steel Orchestra. Green Bag Raffles, a cookout, cake & ice cream round out the event. Rain or shine, Rockin' with Raptors is free!

Walk and Draw with Mardi Reed

The Boston Nature Center's 67 acres of forest, meadows and wetlands can be a bounty of inspiration. Local artist Mardi Reed will lead a "Walk and Draw" workshop on Sunday, May 01, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the BNC. While exploring the paths, participants will draw the surrounding landscape and the variety of vibrant birds found at the BNC while experimenting with gesture and contour lines. All levels of experience are welcome. A sketch book, hb, b, 2b and 4b pencils, eraser and a drawing pen are recommended for this class. Registration not required. Event is free and aimed at adults!

BNC Summer Camp Slots Still Available!

The Boston Nature Center's summer programs are filling up fast! The BNC summer camp is a nature-based day camp right here in the city. Each week features a unique theme, tailored for every age group and each day is packed with outdoor activities, science exploration, arts & crafts, and camp songs.
