Franklin Park Winter Festival Feb. 4

The Franklin Park Coalition will be hosting a Winter Snow Festival on Saturday, February 4th! The festival will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sign in at the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse, 1 Circuit Drive, Dorchester, MA and spend the afternoon sledding, snowshoeing, building snowpeople, and tracking animal prints in the snow! Do you have cross country skis? A guided tour via skis will begin at 1:30. When the snow gets to be chilly, warm up with hot chocolate and games in the clubhouse! Franklin Park New Year's Day Walk Jan. 1

The Franklin Park Coalition invites you to their annual New Year's Day Walk! Bring in the new year with a brisk walk through Franklin Park and start the year right. The walk will be on Sunday, January 1st, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Meet at the Golf Clubhouse, 1 Circuit Drive in Dorchester. Ciclopaseo and Cycling in Quito, Aug. 16

The Ciclopaseo in Quito, Ecuador, a 30km route closed to motorized traffic every week to allow space for cycling, walking, and other forms of transport, averages 40,000 participants each day it is held. Sally Sharrow, who helped out as an intern for Dot Bike this year, got a taste of the bicycle advocacy scene in Quito while studying abroad there last year. She will share her experiences working and riding with the people and organizations involved in making Quito una ciudad cicletera. NAACP Golf Tournament Marks 100th Anniversary, Jul. 22

GolfThe NAACP Boston branch plans first annual golf tournament (William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park, 1 Circuit Drive, Dorchester) to kick off a year of celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the oldest chartered branch in the Nation. This is your opportunity to support the Branch, network with Boston's most prominent political and business leaders while enjoying the great game of golf.

Boston Park Advocates First Annual Meeting, Jun. 8

Join Boston Park Advocates (BPA) for their first annual meeting to celebrate the role of parks and open space in making Boston a healthy and vibrant city! Guest speaker Dr. Barbara Ferrer, Executive Director, Boston Public Health Commission, will give a talk entitled "Parks and Public Health: A Natural Partnership."
