Boston City Singers Annual Spring Concert | May 20

The Boston City Singers will be having their Annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 20th at 3:00 p.m. at the Strand Theater in Dorchester! The concert, SINGING ALL TOGETHER will feature 350 singers from all Boston City Singers Training and Concert Choruses and Kodaly Singing Classes and showcase the pieces the group has been working on throughout the year. Greater Boston House Concerts: Agustin Castilla-Avila Feb. 17

This Friday, February 17, Greater Boston House Concerts presents Spanish guitarist and composer Agustín Castilla-Ávila. Join for a night of classical standards and new works for solo guitar with Spanish guitarist and composer Agustín Castilla-Ávila! Music will include original pieces by Agustín as well as works from the Renaissance by Dowland, the Baroque by Bach & Purcell, and from Spain by Albéniz, Granados & Tarrega, and Latin America by Barrios.

Agustín Castilla-Ávila was born in Spain and resides in Germany.

Can't Wait Productions, a new theatre company in Dorchester, is presenting A Staged Reading of Wednesday Double, written by Gabriella Ciambrone, an actress, playwright, and cofounder of CWP!

Boston Ballet at The Strand March 23

Boston Ballet, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Tourism & Special Events, and Boston Public Schools, presents two free performances featuring Boston Ballet company dancers, Boston Ballet II dancers, and Boston Ballet School students at The Strand Theatre at 543 Columbia Road in Dorchester.

The performances, developed specifically for The Strand Theatre, will feature a dynamic introduction to a variety of dance forms through an interactive and diverse program.

The afternoon performance has been reserved for Boston Public School students. The evening performance is free and open to the general public, and will feature performances by Boston Ballet company dancers specially prepared for this one-night-only presentation!

'Voices of History' at Adams Street Branch Library Jan. 30

Members of the Handel & Haydn Society of Boston will be at the Adams Street Branch Library on January 30, 2012! Starting at 6:30 p.m., a quartet of singers will be performing music from different periods of an entire millenium, from 1100 to 1994 with the motifs of classical, folk, and multi-cultural genres. On Thursday, January 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. C.R.A.K. (Creativity Revolutionized Around Knowledge) "Youth Speaks" will be hosting an open mic! This open mic is open aimed for youth ages 3 - 20, but everyone is welcome to support and be a part of the audience! Duo Diavolo at First Parish Church in Dorchester Jan. 21

Duo Diavolo (Devilish Duo) Jan. 21 performance at First Parish Church had to be cancelled due to the weather - look for a new date in March or April to be announced. Duo Diavolo consists of Dorchester resident and Boston Conservatory classical guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan & flutist & Venezuelan cuatro player, Orlando Cela. Together they bring an original mix of Latin, Eastern & Spanish music to Dorchester! This event is entirely free. BalletRox Presents Urban Nutcracker Dec. 3 - 18

BalletROX will be hosting their 11th annual production of Urban Nutcracker December 3rd through 18th, 2011. The production will be held at the Wheelock Family Theatre in Boston. The Urban Nutcracker follows the story of E.T.A. Hoffman's 19th century fairy tale, set in contemporary Boston. The production mixes ballet, swing, hip hop, and urban tap with the traditional classical score of Tchaikovsky and the music of Duke Ellington; and celebrates the diversity of Boston's communities. The production features over 90 children from the area and a plethora of set designs and costumes by Rebecca Cross.

Boston Classical Orchestra @ Strand Theatre Dec. 12

Celebrate the Season with Boston Classical Orchestra at the Strand Theatre! On December 12 at 7:00 p.m., Boston Classical Orchestra will be performing with special guest performers: Violin Students from Pope John Paul II Catholic Academy, Mary Swanton, the director of Fine Arts, and, Khamari Barnes, a member of the Boston Children's Chorus.
