BAMS Fest | June 23, 2018

BAMS Fest will debut on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Franklin Park, Playstead Field. The festival is a celebration and promotion of Afro-centric culture, music, art, and food, particularly highlighting the contributions to black music and culture to the City of Boston, Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the world. Given the nature of the festival, they anticipate a large turnout of 5,000 attendees. Therefore, many volunteers are needed! 

The deadline to submit a volunteer application has been extended to Monday, May 14. So sign up to help with the event today- http://www.bamsfest.org/volunteer

Micro Hikes & Huts at Franklin Park | June 4

Take a closer, microscopic look at the ecosystems all around us! Build fairy houses and create your own magical story. Great for all ages, especially the little ones.

Boston Park Advocates Summit | May 12

Learn about Community Preservation Act, newly endorsed by Mayor Walsh, and the resources and improvements it can bring to Boston Parks. Participate in special Imagine Boson 2030 visioning session about how we want to shape the city in coming decades.

Fairy House Building Workshop | April 21

Once Upon A Time in Franklin Park..

  • Build houses using natural elements.
  • Explore nature and let your imagination run wild!
  • Wear your favorite fairy or elf costume. 
  • Face painting.
  • Bring your own bag lunch to picnic to the park. 
  • Story time with ReadBoston.
  • Visit Mass Hort Plantmobile.

The Franklin Park Kite & Bike Festival | May 14

The 2016 Franklin Park Kite & Bike Festival, co-coordinated by the Franklin Park Coalition and Discover Roxbury. Bring a kite or buy one in the park. Ride your bike to the festival or rent a bike from Boston Bikes. Bike tours of the park, food trucks, craft vendors and more..

When: Sat, May 14, 11am-4pm

After Thanksgiving Family Hike | Nov 27

Thinking of how you will work off the holiday feast? Join Appalachian Mountain Club. The Appalachian Mountain Club, is leading through its Outdoors Rx program.  Outdoors Rx is partnered with Boston Medical Center and helps families lead healthy lives through outdoor recreation.

Bring your loved ones on a family hike through the beautiful and historic woodland of Franklin Park. Dress to enjoy the weather! Snacks and drinks OK to bring. Trails are not appropriate for strollers.

Franklin Park Turkey Trot | November 24 2016

Enjoy Boston’s most scenic 5k on the beautiful historic paths of Franklin Park.  Run or walk the “jewel” of the Emerald Necklace to start your Thanksgiving Day! You’ll run through beautiful woods, over an old stone bridge, and past picturesque ruins. Bring everyone and make it a family event – all ages welcome.

Family Fun Event | August 1

On August 1st there will be a huge family summer event going on right in Franklin Park (next to White Stadium). It will be full of activities, food, sports, prizes, dancing and family fun with the community. Come out and start your weekend off right. The fun and games starts at 12 Noon and end at 4PM.

Franklin Park Art Grove | August 8th - August 9th

Franklin Park Art Grove: August 8-9th from 11am-6pm in Franklin Park Wilderness Picnic Grove. Experience site responsive performative and sculptural work from artists who integrate natural and cultural landscape into their piece following the theme “Endurance.” Come enjoy a weekend of art, performing arts, dance, guided art tours, food trucks, and a panel discussion curated by Barbara Lewis, Director the Trotter Institute for the Study of Black History and Culture.

Elma Lewis Playhouse in the Park | July 14
