ADSL "Friendraiser" Event Dec. 8

On Thursday, December 8, ADSL (All Dorchester Sports League) will be hosting an open house "Friendraiser" at their Town Field clubhouse. The event will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The organization offers a unique combination of academic, athletic and nutritional support, with qualified staff for high school aged kids and teens. There are many teens involved already with this ambitious program! Louis D. Brown Peace Institute Open House Dec. 6

The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute will be hosting an open house to welcome the community into their new space on the third floor of the Lenane Building in Fields Corner! The event will be on Tuesday December 6, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The new space includes a Healing and Leadership Center, Peace Library, Sandtray / Worldplay therapy space and much more.

 

The Peace Institute will formally release their latest publication: "Always In My Heart": A Workbook for Grieving Children written by Clementina M. Chery. This is one of many events commemorating the 11th Annual Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month (SHVAM) held from November 20th to December 20th.

Grove Hall Branch Holiday Open House Dec. 10

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, Friends of the Grove Hall Branch Library will be hosting a Holiday Open House and Book Sale from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.! Grove Hall Branch is located at 41 Geneva Avenue in Dorchester. The open house will include a book sale, raffle, prizes, and refreshments. This is a great opportunity to join the Friends of the Library, meet your neighbors, pick up some good books, and enjoy the party! The event is free of cost. Dorchester Historical Society Holiday Open House Dec. 11

Dorchester Historical Society will be holding their Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome! The Open House is held at the Dorchester Historical Society's Headquarters at 195 Boston Street. The 1806 William Clapp House is decorated in traditional fashion, and all exhibits are on view. MFA Open House on MLK Day Jan. 16

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. the Museum of Fine Arts will be hosting an open house on January 16th. Visit the MFA, including the new Linde Family wing for Contemporary Art, entirely free!
