Winter Wildlife Tracking & Snowshoe @ Gladeside Urban Wild

Follow evidence of winter wildlife through the woods on snowshoes in Gladeside Urban Wild, a special Mattapan forest, on February 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.! Gladeside Urban Wild is located at 250 Lorna Road in Mattapan (click here to see it on a map). In the event that there is not a good layer of snow on the ground, this will be a walking tour. Men of Color To Arms! The Story of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment

Labouré College and Carney Hospital, In partnership with the Boston African American National Historic Site, will present "Men of Color To Arms! The Story of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment." On February 9th, 2012, see the event at Carney Hospital Riseman Lecture Hall, 2100 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester 02124. There will be refreshments at 5:30 p.m. and a presentation at 6:00 p.m. This presentation will be jointly led by Lt. Col. David Hencke, Executive Officer, 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment; Sgt. 50th Anniversary of the White House Tour Feb. 15

On Wednesday, February 15, 2012, the John F. Kennedy Library will be hosting a forum in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the White House Tour with Jacqueline Kennedy. Join the JFK Library for a screening and discussion of Mrs. Kennedy's famous televised tour of the White House with current White House curator William Allman. This forum is happening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Stephen Smith Hall at the JFK Library, Dorchester. All forums are free and open to the public. High school seniors, families and adult-students who will be entering college in the 2012-2013 academic year are encouraged to attend FAFSA Day Massachusetts to get free help completing the FAFSA. The FAFSA is the federally required form for all students seeking financial aid, including grants, loans and Federal Work-Study. At FAFSA Day Massachusetts, financial aid experts will guide you through how to complete the FAFSA and answer questions about your specific circumstances. I encourage all seniors and their parents to attend this free event. 'Voices of History' at Adams Street Branch Library Jan. 30

Members of the Handel & Haydn Society of Boston will be at the Adams Street Branch Library on January 30, 2012! Starting at 6:30 p.m., a quartet of singers will be performing music from different periods of an entire millenium, from 1100 to 1994 with the motifs of classical, folk, and multi-cultural genres. "Reflections on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr." at Second Church in Dorchester Jan. 25

On Jan. 25, at 6:30 p.m. Second Church in Dorchester will be presenting "Reflections on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Adelle Banks, as part of the Sacred Conversations Series. Adelle Banks is a production editor and national reporter for the Religion News Service in Washington, D.C. She has won numerous awards for her journalistic work and has recently been investigating Dr. King's prayer life and favorite hymns. Banks is a native of Newport, RI and a graduate of Mount Holyoke College. She has received many honors, and her work was featured in the 2006 book Good News: The Best Religion Writing in North America. Second Church is located at 44 Moultrie Street in Dorchester.
