The Vibe coffeehouse presents "All That Jazz" featuring musical selections by Nola Marie, spoken word from Maureen Bodden, rhythms and tunes by Fred Woodward Collective Jazz Band. A great night out for grown folks to enjoy, have some fun, meet some great people, and catch the Vibe.

Church and State: Helping in Our Community | March 29

Second Church in Dorchester is pleased to host State Representative Russell Holmes to speak in its on-going "Sacred Conversations" series. Representative Holmes was elected to the Massachusetts legislature in 2010.  He and his wife Sheree are active members of their local church in Roxbury and Russell is known by many for his individual work as a certified financial planner.  Rep. Holmes will address how congregations in the district can partner with state initiatives to produce a better community. The thirty-minute presentation, beginning at 6:30PM, will be followed by a question and answer session.  
Refreshments will be served.  Those attending can access the church parlor from the entrance at 44 Moultrie Street.

On Jan. 25, at 6:30 p.m. Second Church in Dorchester will be presenting "Reflections on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by Adelle Banks, as part of the Sacred Conversations Series. Adelle Banks is a production editor and national reporter for the Religion News Service in Washington, D.C. She has won numerous awards for her journalistic work and has recently been investigating Dr. King's prayer life and favorite hymns. Banks is a native of Newport, RI and a graduate of Mount Holyoke College. She has received many honors, and her work was featured in the 2006 book Good News: The Best Religion Writing in North America. Second Church is located at 44 Moultrie Street in Dorchester. As part of the Sacred Conversations Series, Second Church in Dorchester presents "Reflections on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." by Adelle Banks, Production Editor and National Reporter, Religion News Service, Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:30PM at Second Church, 44 Moultrie St, Dorchester, MA.

Adelle Banks has won numerous awards for her journalistic work and has recently been investigating Dr. King's prayer life and favorite hymns. Banks worked at The Orlando Sentinel, the Providence Journal and upstate New York newspapers in Syracuse and Binghamton.  A native of Newport, R.I., she is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass.

She has received many honors and her work was featured in the 2006 book Good News: The Best Religion Writing in North America.

Banks is a biannual speaker for the Washington Journalism Center, a program of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. She is a former board member of the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke College and the Religion Newswriters Foundation. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Religion Newswriters Association.
