Thursday, January 30 at 6:30pm, the Better Business Bureau’s Identity Theft program will cover the most common tactics that identity thieves are using to obtain our personal information, and the precautionary steps we can take in our everyday lives to protect ourselves.

Cyber-Crime Prevention for Seniors | January 30

Grove Hall Branch Library will host a Cyber Crime Prevention for Seniors seminar, Thursday January 30 at 12:30pm. Grove Hall Library is located at 41 Geneva Ave. Dorchester, MA 02121.
 
This seminar covers the most current trends, tactics, and procedures in use by cyber-criminals who target seniors on-line. Learn about several strategies for preventing and mitigating instances of cyber-crime, as well as initial steps to take if you believe you already are a cyber-crime victim.

African Drumming Workshop with Mohamad Kalifa Kamar | December 19

African Drumming Workshop with Mohamad Kalifa Kamar, Thursday, December 19, 2013, 4 – 5pm. This event will be held in the Grove Hall Branch of the Boston Public Library (41 Geneva Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02121)
 
Mohamad Kalifa Kamara, a master drummer and dancer, began his career in Gambia where he started his own dancing and drumming group. For this workshop, Mohamad will explain to youth the history of drumming and how drums are used as a form of communication in African villages. Participants will also have the opportunity to play Mohamad’s various drums. For children ages 6 and up.
 
This event is free and is open to the public. Space is limited; please register with the children’s librarian.
 
This Out-of-school Time program is sponsored by the Boston Public Library Foundation.
 

Snowflake Crafty Afternoon | December 18

Wednesday, December 18, 2013, 3 – 4pm, The Boston Public Library Grove Hall Branch would like to invite you to decorate the library with fun snowflakes and garlands to celebrate winter. Join us and make cool designs to decorate inside and outside too!

Friends of the Library Book Sale | December 5

Thursday, December 5 at 6pm, The Friends of the Grove Hall Branch Library are pleased to host a holiday book sale to raise funds for library programming. Come browse a large selection of books for children, teens, and adults. All books priced at a dollar or less.
