28th Annual Bikes Not Bombs Bike-A-Thon | June 5

Registration for the 29th Annual Bike-A-Thon is now open!  Join  Bikes Not Bombs to ride 10, 30, 50 or 80 miles on the bike ride for social change. Riders of all ages and abilities are welcome to ride.  Join with your friends to create a team and you could win a prize for teams that go above and beyond! The rider after-party will be at the Stony Brook Park from noon – 5:30pm and features live music, hill slides, face painting and delicious food!

Boston Creates will host its first Cultural Planning Town Hall. We invite everyone to join in and share their opinions and ideas about cultural priorities for the City.  

Boston Creates, the cultural planning process for the City of Boston, will engage residents, visitors, and stakeholders to help local government identify cultural needs, opportunities, and resources and to think strategically about how these resources can help the community to achieve its civic goals. The process will create a plan designed to prioritize, coordinate, and align public and private resources to strengthen cultural vitality over the long term.

CALLING ALL BICYCLISTS!

If you feel strongly that cycletracks are the safer alternative to the biking infrastructure created in the Arborway, now is your chance to let the Department for Conservation and Recreation hear! Tell them why you support bikelanes throughout the cities and outer cities.

"It is extremely important that the DCR hears from people like you who would prefer cycletracks on Mon., Feb. 2, and also that you or your friends or family also show up on Thurs., Feb. 5 to support the cycletrack alternative moving forward."

Adult Learning Program of Jamaica Plain Community Centers

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays the Adult Learning Program of Jamaica Plain Community Center (JPCCALP) offers classes for their High School Equivalency (HSE) Program. Currently there are seats available for members of the community to sign up for these classes. In this program students will build the skills needed to pass the 5 tests within the HSE exam, those include reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students will also have the ability to master other skills such as using computers, communication, information processing, problem solving, and critical thinking. These class and materials are free and take place at English High School located at 144 McBride Street in Jamaica Plain.
