Boston Caribbean Carnival | Aug. 27

The parade begins from Martin Luther King Boulevard in Roxbury, off Warren Street. The bands and their masqueraders adorn the street with spetacualr colrs and sounds that signal the arrival ofcarnival. The parade proceeds along Warren Street thorugh Grove Hall then onto Dorchester's Franklin Park with followers in tow. Spectators lined te streets to witness the enourmous spectacles as it unfolds. So many children and adluts dance the street all day long. You will observe happiness and excitement. Nearly one million people compromised of diversity engage in the day's festivities, singing and dancing and having a great time!

ParkARTS Boston Children’s Festival | Aug. 23

Children and families from throughout Boston have the opportunity to participate in a variety of free activities from various exhibitors including Cambridge Science on the Street, a show by Rosalita’s Puppets, ParkARTS arts and crafts, the Bubble Guy, ReadBoston Storymobile, Mass Hort, Boston Children’s Museum, New England Aquarium, and more.  

The August 23 event will also include book giveaways from the ReadBoston Storymobile, exploring a Boston Fire Department fire truck, identification kits from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, a visit from the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit, face painting, dance performances, and free treats and giveaways from HP Hood LLC, Polar Beverages, the movie “Storks,” and Magic 106.7.

Dorchester Neighborhood Night | June 9

Summer is around the corner and it's time to celebrate! Join Onein3 in Dorchester for their June edition of Neighborhood Nights!  Celebrate the sunshine with a casual night of drinks, conversation and community building.  

This month Onein3 is partnering with Read Boston, the city's only comprehensive early literacy program, to host a book drive for young Bostonians ages 3-8.  Take a walk down memory lane and bring your favorite book as a kid, or choose from a list of suggested books

 Mayor Marty Walsh welcomes students grades 1-12 to create a work of art and win prizes! All artwork must represent the theme surrounding Fair Housing which is "opening doors for all."

Acceptable mediums of art include:

posters- 22"x28"with paint, water color, color pencils, markers, etc

paintings- 16"x20" canvas or 22"x28 poster paper

collages- 22"x28"

Citywide Community Yard Sale | June 28 & 29

Mayor Walsh presents Boston's first Citywide Community Yard Sale which will take place on June 28 and 29. This event will be organized by Greenovate Boston. Greenovate Boston seeks to promote the reuse and recycling of goods as well as the reduction of bulk waste sent to the curb. Mayor Walsh said that "Yard sales are a great way for residents to divert waste, save money, and even get to know your neighbors better." Residents can participate by hosting a yard sale on June 28 or 29, and register online at GreenovateBoston.org.
