Led by bandleader Keith Kostick and singers Cecilia Colucci and Charles Clark, Stardust packs the dance floor at corporate events, weddings, and City Hall Plaza where revelers of all ages get to get up and boogie under the summer sky.  Stardust’s popularity at private events means that public appearances are limited, so this Disco Night is a rare treat for both the band and its fans.

Marty Walsh's Dot Ave Housing Initiative | March 30 and April 2

mayor walsh

The second BSA Urban Design Workshop examines Mayor Walsh’s housing initiative and runs March 30 through April 2. The site focuses on the Dorchester Avenue corridor between the Broadway and Andrews MBTA Red Line stops. This area, identified as one of two of the mayor’s housing development “priority zones,” is characterized by light industrial uses, auto-dependent businesses, and underused parcels. Four design teams will each propose innovative workforce housing on adjacent parcels.

The workshop aims to stimulate discussion, encouraging public officials and the public to be inspired by individual proposals and by the way in which aggregation of a new residential development might begin to contribute to a new mixed-use neighborhood. The overall goal is to promote more expansive and innovative thinking about urban workforce housing.

This three-day workshop will include two public presentations: The first, on Monday, March 30, will provide an overview of the workshop objectives as well as a panel discussion with national housing experts. The second, on Thursday, April 2, will present workshop results by the four participating teams.

When:

  • Monday, March 30, at 6:00 pm at BSA Space: Kickoff Panel Discussion, moderated by Renée Loth (open to the public).
  • Tuesday, March 31, and Thursday, April 2: Workshop with the four professional teams.
    • Four interdisciplinary urban design teams, led by Brian Healy FAIA, Eric Höweler AIA, Beth Whittaker AIA, and the BSA Emerging Professionals Network, will each develop proposals that aim to balance innovations in residential living with the larger city-building opportunities afforded by redevelopment. In addition to architects, teams will include urban designers, transportation planners, and landscape architects enlisted through the efforts of the BSA Urban Design Committee.
  • Thursday, April 2, at 6:00 pm at BSA Space: Presentations of the four teams’ proposals (open to the public)

Where: BSA Space

290 Congress Street, Suite 200
Boston, MA
