Homemade Bath Products for Mom | May 5

Mom deserves to be pampered. Homemade bath products are an inexpensive and luxurious gift. They will discuss what is used in homemade bath products and the benefits of each ingredient.  Participants will learn how to make bath salts, milk bath, and bath oil. They will leave with a nice gift for mom or themselves. This program is geared for ages 10 and up. Preregistration is encouraged.

The Maritime History of the Cape Verde Islands, 1498-1904 | Dec 17

Michael P. Dyer is a Senior Maritime Historian of the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

In this talk, he explores how the islands of the Atlantic figured prominently in the American maritime industries, with a particular focus on the last days of the industry when Cape Verdean and Azorean mariners assumed a much more significant profile in the ownership and management of New Bedford whalers. Their stories are synonymous with the last days of the industry.

A Q&A session will follow the talk.

Novel Writing Workshop | Nov 12

November is National Novel Writing Month, it's when aspiring authors try to write a 50,000-page novel in 30 days.  To help those aspiribng authors,  author and teacher, Susan Chernilo will run an hour-and-a-half workshop on writing a novel.  The workshop will include components of a novel, a little about the writing process, and next steps once its finished. 

Ms. Chernilo will also share bits from her current work in progress.
