Volley Against Violence | Fridays and Sundays

Starting on Friday, October 5, the Sportsmen's Tennis & Enrichment Center is resuming Volley Against Violence! Friday nights from 6pm to 8pm will include free tennis, games and pizza for children (parents encouraged to come and help). Sunday afternoons from 3pm to 5pm will include free tennis and activities - with a court reserved for adults!) The Sportsmen's Tennis Club is at 950 Blue Hill Ave in Dorchester by Harambee Park. Mentoring Rocks My Sox Brunch | Sept. 15

Friends and Family Bowling Day | Sept. 15

Boston Bowl (Morrissey Blvd) in Dorchester will be hosting a friends and family bowling day for all ages! The event will start at 2pm and go until 5pm. Each ticket costs $20. It includes bowling, shoe rental, pizza, soda and 1 raffle ticket. All proceeds are put towards upcoming DBOT community events. Red Sox Challenge at Town Field Park | July 19

The Boston Red Sox will host a baseball skills session at Town Field in Dorchester on July 19 starting at 9:30am. The event is for boys and girls ages 7-14. The event is a challenge of  skills including: running, hitting and throwing. The winners of each age division in the competition will receive two tickets to a Red Sox game in September and will be recognized on the field before the game. Family Fit Summer Event | August 4

Enjoy kickball, dodgeball, food, music, and fun! On Saturday, August 4th from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm join Hike4Life and Operation Fit Mom. Annual Spring Neponset Cycle | March 18th

On Sunday, March 18, at 10:00 a.m. join in the Annual Spring Neponset Cycle! The ride will commence at the concession stand at Fort Independence/Castle Island, and Day Blvd. in South Boston. Usher out winter and welcome spring by riding the entire Neponset Greenway, end to end, exploring the present and future paths. A 13-mile flat ride (one way) both on-road and on paths. You cannot ride without a helmet! Pre-registration is recommended - do so by contacting info@bostonnatural.org.

Winter Woods Walk March 10

On Saturday, March 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., have local experts guide you through a walk in the woods! Learn to identify trees through bark and twig characteristics to investigate the urban ecology of Franklin Park. Meet at Valley Gates parking lot, which can be found midway along Circuit Drive, next to Pierpont Road. Franklin Park Kid's Winter Fest Feb. 23

On Thursday, February 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. join in on fun for kids at the Kids' Franklin Park Winter Festival! The Festival will provide hours of family fun during February school vacation week with both indoor and outdoor activities and entertainment! Weather permitting there will be sledding, a demonstration by the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit, a marionette puppet show, face painting, arts and crafts, games, and even a Critter Exhibit featuring wildlife native to Massachusetts! There will also be a screening of "Cool Runnings" the inspiring true story of the first Jamaican bobsled team to make it into the Winter Olympics, in celebration of the winter season. The Boston Parks Department will provide popcorn at the clubhouse. Attendees should plan on packing a lunch for the afternoon. Winter Wildlife Tracking & Snowshoe @ Gladeside Urban Wild

Follow evidence of winter wildlife through the woods on snowshoes in Gladeside Urban Wild, a special Mattapan forest, on February 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.! Gladeside Urban Wild is located at 250 Lorna Road in Mattapan (click here to see it on a map). In the event that there is not a good layer of snow on the ground, this will be a walking tour.
