Halloween at Frog Pond | Oct. 31

Take your little ghosts and goblins for a spin on the Spooky Carousel this Halloween. Rosalita’s Puppets brings you storyteller “Aunty Goose” with hand puppets, comedy, audience participation, and music from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Magic tricks and sweet treats will be offered by Boston area magician Kayla Drescher from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Frog Pond Freddie will welcome youngsters throughout the evening. Prizes for best costumes. Join us… if you dare! Carousel rides are $3.

Kids with Asthma Can Swim

 

Kids with Asthma Can Swim (Starting October 18th, every Wednesday and Thursday 4:00-6:00pm, until January 3rd).  Kids with Asthma Can Swim is a FREE program combining asthma education and swimming lessons to improve the health and well-being of children with asthma. Dinner and Movie Night | Oct. 19

Get ready for a dinner and movie night the whole family can enjoy. Happening at Dot 2 Dot Cafe on Friday Oct. 19th. Dinner starts at 6pm followed by a showing of 'Hocus Pocus' (PG)  Set menu: adults $20, kids $12.

Movie Snoypsis: After 300 years, three sister witches are resurrected in Salem Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it us up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to the witches reign of terror once and for all.

 

 

Real Talk: Positive Approaches to Discipline | Nov. 7

Come join us for dinner and learn some positive ways to discipline the young child in your life! This session helps parents understand typical anger triggers & responses. Strategies for managing their anger in healthy and productive ways are   shared, as are appropriate responses for parents to use when their children become frustrated or angry.

Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures Open Gym | Nov. 10

Open Gym is a free play program for families with children ages 3-8. It takes place at the Madison Park Recreation Center in Roxbury on Saturday mornings from 10:00-11:30am. The Fall session starts September 29th and runs through December 1st. It will take place every Saturday, except for November 24th.

Franklin Park Kid's Winter Fest Feb. 23

On Thursday, February 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. join in on fun for kids at the Kids' Franklin Park Winter Festival! The Festival will provide hours of family fun during February school vacation week with both indoor and outdoor activities and entertainment! Weather permitting there will be sledding, a demonstration by the Boston Park Rangers Mounted Unit, a marionette puppet show, face painting, arts and crafts, games, and even a Critter Exhibit featuring wildlife native to Massachusetts! There will also be a screening of "Cool Runnings" the inspiring true story of the first Jamaican bobsled team to make it into the Winter Olympics, in celebration of the winter season. The Boston Parks Department will provide popcorn at the clubhouse. Attendees should plan on packing a lunch for the afternoon. Free parking is available at the clubhouse parking lot located at One Circuit Drive in Franklin Park. Dorchester House Children's Holiday Party Dec. 10

Dorchester House will be holding their 19th Annual Children's Holiday Party on Saturday, December 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The party is due to be a fun time, and is free for all children ages 1 - 10 years old! There will be Holiday Craft Tables, Face Painting, Games, Holiday Treats, and last but not least, Santa and his Elves! This event is for pre-registered only, you must register to visit Santa & receive a gift. A ticket is required for each child, and the number of children who receive gifts is limited to 600. National “Dot Day” Story and Artsy Afternoon, Sep. 15

Vashti believes that she cannot draw, but her art teacher's encouragement leads her to change her mind. You, too, can discover how the mind can foster beautiful artistic creation! Come to the Grove Hall Branch Library from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 15 to celebrate Peter Reynolds' book, The Dot, and learn about art and imagination. Then, make your very own dot to be displayed in the library! Meet in the Grove Hall Children's Activity Room.
