On March 20th, the Dorchester Substance Abuse Coalition meeting will focus on what youth, parents, and guardians need to know, presented by Helen Connolly, RN, BSN. The Dorchester Substance Abuse Coalition will be hosting a Community Meeting on Tuesday, December 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Leahy-Holloran Community Center. The Leahy-Holloran Community Center is located at 1 Worrell Street in Dorchester, 02122. The meeting will feature special guests - Mr. Adam Butler, Executive Director of the Needle Exchange Program from the Boston Public Health Commission, Bureau of Addiction's Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Services. Adam Butler will be presenting NARCAN, a powerful tool in overdose prevention. The meeting will also feature The improbably PLAYERS, a fun theater group that will be enacting a ten-minute play to inspire young people to think and talk about the impact of substance abuse on their lives, friends, family, and community. The group also touches on real possibilities for change.
Come to the Leahy-Holloran Community Center this Saturday, August 20, from 1 to 3 p.m. for Mayor Menino's Rockin Pool Party and Street Carnival! This free family event will feature live entertainment with a DJ, a Balloon Artist and Magic Show, a BBQ, Ice Cream Trucks, snow cones, popcorn, and tons of fun! There will be plenty of games for all ages, including: Speed Pitches, Bungee Runs, Hoop Shoots,and special inflatables (giant slides, bulls' eye throws,and the swamper stomper inflatable obstacle course!)
