Boston Public Library locations offer free after-school homework help and mentorship provided by high-achieving high school students. Open to students in grades K-8. No registration required. Homework Help is not available on BPS holidays, early-release days, or long weekends,

Trick or Treat Magic Show | 16

Magician Debbie O'Carroll combines mystifying stage magic and delightful physical comedy with lots of audience participation, making this Trick or Treat Magic Show perfect for young Halloween revelers.  Kids have three opportunities to see a great show.

Printmaking with the MFA for Teens | January 24

On Friday, January 24, 2014, between the hours of 4 – 5pm, the Codman Square Branch of the Boston Public Library will host the Printmaking with the MFA for Teens at 690 Washington Street in Dorchester.

There are more ways to work with ink on paper than simply with a paintbrush or pen. Led by educators from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, discover the art of printmaking, a process allowing multiple copies of the same image to be created – design, engrave, print and repeat.

This event is free and is open to teens, ages 13-18.

This Out-of-school Time program is sponsored by the Boston Public Library Foundation.

Out of School Time: Robotics | Dec. 17

Come on down to the Codman Square Branch of the Boston Public Library on Monday Dec. 17th for a two-hour robotic workshop.  Students in grades 6-8 will learn how to build a robotic bug. The Codman Square Library is hosting a fun Halloween event for kids that involves creating your own mask! The event will take place at 690 Washington Street in Dorchester. There will also be snacks and other seasonal surprises! Be there at 6pm to get in on the fun!

Holiday Expo @ Codman Square Branch Dec. 17

On Saturday, December 17, at 12:00 p.m. Codman Square Branch Library is hosting a Holiday Expo until 3:00 p.m. Meet local author Joan Blake, support local vendors, such as Beauty Line Design and Say It Sweet! There will be a variety of kids' programs, such as storytelling, a cupcake bar, gingerbread houses, Girl Scouts, Girls Leap, and more! Raffles, door prizes, a book sale, and bake sale. Harriet Tubman @ Codman Square Branch Nov. 21

On November 21, Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti will be performing  as Harriet Tubman at the Codman Square Branch of the Boston Public Library on November 21 at 6:30 p.m. It is all a part of events commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War. Born Araminta Ross in 1822, Harriet Tubman was an African American abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy. She escaped from slavery and rescued more than 70 slaves using the network known as the Underground Railroad. Quezaire-Presutti is a professional storyteller who incorporates learning into each of her performances. Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti will tell Harriet’s story in a dramatic performance that connects powerfully with audiences of older children through adults.
