Dorchester Open Studios 2014 | Oct. 24-26

Open Studios 2014

Dorchester Open Studios is back! This free arts festival feautures artists from a wide variety of disciplines, including music, dance, photography, painting, ceramics, glass working, jewelry making, sculpture, videography and more.

The three-day event kicks off with an evening reception and performance on Friday, October 24 at the Black Box Theatre at Codman Academy. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by a show at 7:15 featuring local performing artists. The event is free.

On October 25 and 26, art venues will be open from noon to 5 p.m. There will be a free shuttle service providing transportation to all of the sites running about once every twenty minutes. Paint & Pour to Wellness

On Saturday, March 8 the Dorchester Arts Collaborative will host Paint & Pour to Wellness. This event will take place at Dorchester Arts Collaborative located at 157A Washington Street in Dorchester from 5-8 pm.

In honor of International Women's Day, join Peace of Food and ZoulJah Art by Q for a unique experience of art therapy instruction, nutrition seminar, and green smoothie samples. Paint & Pour with a healthy twist along with networking and great vibes. This event is a collaboration of two local female entrepreneurs seeking to provide Wellness to the community through art and nutrition. They aim to create an inventive space for like minded women who are innovative and creative. Tickets can be purchased online here. Or at the door for $20.

Dorchester Arts Collaborative Camp | Aug 19 to 30

Dorchester Arts Collaborative presents an Arts & Crafts Camp for children ages 6-12. Don't miss this grand opportunity at the Erick Jean Center for the Arts (157a Washington Street in Dorchester). The camp will start on August 19 and end on August 30 and go from 1pm to 3pm (M - F). $50 per 5-day session; $15 for single 2-hr session. When the winner of a major art award is announced, Sebastian Peters, an outspoken student and candidate for the award, questions the role diversity may have played in the contest's outcome.  Deep divides threaten to fracture Sebastian's friendship with his fellow candidates, Kim, Austin, and Michelle as they debate why the winner was chosen.  Putting the pieces back together may be more difficult than any of them had bargained for...
