FCCT Zoo Day | July 18

Enrichment Day at Franklin Park Zoo | July 7

Join the Franklin Park Zoo (1 Franklin Park Road, Boston MA, 02121) from 10am to 3pm during Enrichment day. Enrichment day excites all the animals’ senses and can be offered by zookeepers in a variety of different ways such as novelty foods, sounds, smells, boxes, bags, and toys. Throughout the day, guests will have the opportunity to see many of the animals receive enrichment items made especially for them. The animals will be celebrating too with birthday themed enrichment items including paper mache cakes, ice treats and other fun surprises. For more info, call 617-541-5466.

Sex at the Zoo at Franklin Park Feb. 10

21+ only! On Friday, February 10th, get ready for a voyeuristic peek into the private lives of animals during Franklin Park Zoo’s Sex at the Zoo lecture and Valentine’s Day themed event. The event starts at 6:00 and will be held at the Tropical Forest Pavilion. Learn everything you ever (and never) wanted to know about the romantic lives of animals. Do you wonder if animals find each other appealing or attractive? What are the similarities and differences between human and animal courtship? What can the techniques that animals use to attract mates teach us about friendship and romance? The event will feature a presentation by Dr. Rory Browne, zoo historian and member of Zoo New England’s Board of Directors, with insights about the pros and cons of relationships versus staying single in the animal kingdom. Come alone or bring a date - tickets are $20 per person, $35 per pair.

Local wines from Greenvale Vineyards and Still River Winery served, along with light refreshments.

Zoo Howl @ Franklin Park Zoo Oct. 29 - 30

On October 29th and 30th, Franklin Park Zoo will be hosting Zoo Howl! The haunted happenings at the zoo include creatures, crafts, games, a trick-or-treat trail and a Haunted Maze!

There will also be hay rides provided by Pine Meadow Farm - $2.00 per person or three for $5.00!

This year, Franklin Park Zoo is partnered with Green Halloween - a non-profit, grassroots initiative to encourage communities to celebrate healthier and more sustainable holidays, starting with Halloween. To learn more about events at Franklin Park, click here.

Farm Day at Franklin Park Zoo Oct. 16

Want to experience life on a farm without leaving the city? Franklin Park Zoo will be hosting a Farm Day on Sunday, October 16th. The Farm at Franklin Park Zoo is home to a number of rare and interesting animals - Poitou donkeys, an extremely rare breed of donkey that is also the oldest in France, sheep, goats, Guinea hogs, and more! On Farm Day you can learn more about the animals ith scheduled talks and interactions with zookeepers. There will also be more fun activities throughtout the day - make a scarecrow, and learn about agricultural issues through special exhibitors. The event will be from 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Brew at the Zoo, Oct. 1

Don’t miss the Second Annual Brew at the Zoo to be held at Franklin Park Zoo on Saturday, October 1 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. To order tickets, please call 617-989-2012 or visit the website http://www.zoonewengland.org/page.aspx?pid=581. Brew at the Zoo tickets cost $50. 

Brew at the Zoo is a “beer tasting” event that features stations hosted by local breweries as well as an opportunity to stroll among the animals in the signature Tropical Forest, which is home to gorillas, lemurs, and many other species. Participating vendors include Berkshire Brewing Company, Blue Hills Brewery, Clown Shoes Beer, Greenvale Vineyards, John Harvard's Brew House, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Long Trail Brewing Company, Narragansett Beer, Peak Organic Brewing Company, Samuel Adams and Watch City Brewing Co. Brew at the Zoo will also feature musical entertainment.

Bungee Bounce and Rope Adventure Course at Franklin Park Zoo, Jul. 6 to Sep. 5

BungeeLooking for a wild adventure this summer? Don’t miss the new Zoo Adventure Zone at Franklin Park Zoo (1 Franklin Park Rd, Dorchester, MA 02121featuring a rope adventure course and thrilling bungee bounce! Due to a recent partnership with Eurobungy, Franklin Park Zoo can now have fun and safe events like bungee jumping and rope courses! In the words of John Linehan, Zoo New England President and CEO, “These offerings will give a taste of what it is like to bound across the outback like a kangaroo and climb through the canopy like a monkey.”

The Zoo Adventure Zone will be available through Labor Day. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (weather permitting). The cost is $7.00 for the bungee bounce and $10.00 for the rope course.

Fun in the Sun with WIC, Aug. 19

Come have fun in the sun with WIC in Franklin Park and enjoy free raffles, free giveaways and free prizes! "Fun in the Sun" will take place at the Franklin Park Zoo on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a free informational day to provide the community with WIC information and other services available to them such as Daycare, Nutrition, Health, Fuel Assistance, Insurance, Housing, Job, Playgroups and Libraries. This event will be held outside of the zoo’s zebra entrance (across from Peabody Circle). Event does not include admission to the zoo. 

Franklin Park Zoo Children's Concert, Jun. 26

MonkeysTo officially kick-off the summer, the Franklin Park Zoo will be hosting an opening concert on June 26th. Be there at 10:30 a.m. to see one of Boston's favorite musical groups, Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys! Kids will be strutting like peacocks, hooting like owls, cockadoodle-dooing like roosters, and of course, jumping like monkeys!
