Franklin Park Winter Festival Feb. 4

The Franklin Park Coalition will be hosting a Winter Snow Festival on Saturday, February 4th! The festival will be held from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sign in at the Franklin Park Golf Clubhouse, 1 Circuit Drive, Dorchester, MA and spend the afternoon sledding, snowshoeing, building snowpeople, and tracking animal prints in the snow! Do you have cross country skis? A guided tour via skis will begin at 1:30. When the snow gets to be chilly, warm up with hot chocolate and games in the clubhouse! Franklin Park New Year's Day Walk Jan. 1

The Franklin Park Coalition invites you to their annual New Year's Day Walk! Bring in the new year with a brisk walk through Franklin Park and start the year right. The walk will be on Sunday, January 1st, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Meet at the Golf Clubhouse, 1 Circuit Drive in Dorchester. Dress for the weather - the walk will happen on a paved and plowed path, no matter the weather! To RSVP, click here.

Rake Leaves at Franklin Park Nov. 19

Join Franklin Park neighbors and volunteers on a crisp fall day to rake leaves and spruce the park up just before winter! Feel free to bring your favorite gloves or an extra rake. Halloween Night Prowl Oct. 28

Have a spooky night at Franklin Park! On Friday, October 28th, Franklin Park will be hosting its annual Halloween Night Prowl. See the beautiful landscape the park in darkness, and watch things get a little frightening at night. No flashlights allowed! Only the light of the moon will guide you as you search for a jack-o-lantern. Meet at Valley Gates Parking Lot, and make sure to RSVP - space is limited. On October 1st, Franklin Park Coalition will be holding the Franklin Park Fall Festival. The event is free, and offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the "jewel of the Emerald Necklace." Franklin Park Tot Lot Opens, Jul. 30

Franklin Park CoalitionThe Tiffany Moore Tot Lot at Franklin Park is opening! The fence is down and a grand opening with the Mayor will take place Saturday, July 30 at 2:30 p.m. (The Lot is located at Seaver St. between Elm Hill Ave. and Humboldt). There opening ceremony will feature ice cream and refreshments, Boston Breakers women's soccer star Kristine Lilly and maybe even Celtics player Ray Allen! Come check out this beautiful Tot Lot, constructed with the aid of a generous playground foundation.

Roxbury Bike Tour, Jul. 13

Take two wheels to the street with Discovery Roxbury! The Summer of Cycling continues with the annual Roxbury's Main Streets bike tour on July 13, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Travel to the four corners of Roxbury - Mission Hill, Dudley Square, Grove Hall, and Egleston Square - to meet the people working behind the scenes at Main Streets. Hear about what's happening in each district and get recommendations for places to eat and shop. At the end of the ride, hang out in Egleston Square for a concert performed by Opposite People. Elma LewisThe Franklin Park Coalition invites people of all ages to the annual Elma Lewis Playhouse in the Park. This event includes free concerts and films. Morning events will include dancing and drumming for kids and their families. Evening events will include various genres of music and talent acts. Drop-in Youth Sports Night at Franklin Park

Every Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to dusk, come by Franklin Park to play sports with youth in the community. There will be free food, basketball, flag football, kickball, double dutch, tennis, and more! All sports equipment will be provided, just bring your friends and good spirits. All this fun will be happening at the basketball hoops next to White Stadium. Youth groups and youthworkers are welcome! This program is part of Boston R.O.C.K.S, in collaboration with The Boston Foundation - My Summer in the City, Good Sports, Franklin Park Zoo, Franklin Park Tennis Association, MBTA, and Boston Police. This program will run from July 8 - August 12 of 2011.

Franklin Park Kite & Bike Festival, May 14

Now that the long winter has finally come to an end, let us celebrate by getting out to Franklin Park with the whole family to enjoy Franklin Park's Bike and Kite Festival on May 14. Bring your own kite or make one at the festival. Everyone is welcome to fly or ride, or both! Free bike "rentals" will be available for all size cyclists! Experts will also be on hand to help you get a kite airborn or your wheels ready for the road. This event will take place at the Playstead ball fields and is fun for all ages.
