Lobster Bake @ Ashmont Grill, Aug. 14

With temperatures in Boston hot enough to steam a lobster, Ashmont Grill celebrates the last of its special summer events with an old fashioned, all-you-can-eat lobster bake, complete with all the trimmings: clams, potatoes, corn salad and blueberry crisp on Sunday, August 14 at 6:00 p.m.

Cost is $40 per person. Samples of Long Trail Brewing Company summer beers and ales will be offered a special prices. The party takes place on the backyard patio; opposite the MBTA Ashmont Station. 

DotOUT City Council Candidate Forum, Aug. 29

Join DotOUT for a city councillor candidate forum on Monday, August 29 and hear from the candidates on issues important to the GLBT community and to the Dorchester community at large. Light food will be served with cocktails on the outdoor deck. Forum takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Ledge, 2261 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, Massachusetts.

DotOUT will have a roster of candidates attending soon and answers to our "questionnaire" from each. The Fields Corner Collaborative is pleased to kick off My Dot Tour, a multimedia, youth-led walking tour of Fields Corner in Dorchester this August! The free tours will take place Saturday August 6 and 13 at 11 a.m. and on Sunday August 7 and 14 at 4 p.m. Tours depart from Gallagher Insurance (~1471 Dorchester Ave) and Pho Hoa (1356 Dorchester Avenue) will host a reception after each tour where participants can cool off indoors and enjoy delicious Vietnamese cuisine. "Staff Meals" Food Truck @ Ashmont; Other Trucks Throughout Boston

A July 8 press release from the city details vendors, schedules and locations, in addition to describing the background of the Food Truck program and the Mayor's Healthy Food Initiative. The Staff Meal truck will be at Dorchester Avenue by Ashmont Station, in front of the Carruth building from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays. The Food Project Seeks Community Greenhouse Proposals, Deadline Jul. 20

The Food ProjectThe Food Project (TFP), with support from the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), is seeking partners to share community space in the recently opened Dudley Greenhouse. The Dudley Greenhouse is a 10,000-square-foot facility in the Dudley Neighborhood of Roxbury. Owned by DSNI and leased by The Food Project, the greenhouse operates year-round as a food production and educational space.

Space is open to groups serving the neighborhoods of Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan, with priority given to projects that directly serve the Dudley Neighborhood. The RFP can be found attached to this post, and on The Food Project website. Applications are due July 20th, 2011.

Interested groups and individuals are encouraged to visit the greenhouse and meet with the Greenhouse Manager Danielle Andrews in advance of submitting a proposal. The greenhouse is open to the public on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 1 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 to 12:30 p.m. Appointments can also be made by contacting Danielle via email or phone (617-442-1322 x13).
