Part-Time Teen Environmental Program Coordinator

Position Overview

The Vietnamese American Initiative for Development (VietAID), in collaboration with the BYCF Cleveland Community Center, Fields Corner Main Street (FCMS) and GreenDorchester, is developing a youth-led environmental program called “Fields Corner Shines.” We are seeking a dynamic leader to coordinate this new program. The position will be 15 hours/week.The program will focus on environmental justice awareness, education and advocacy to clean and beautify Fields Corner. Through social media, videos and advertising, the teens will engage others to keep the community clean.

Responsibilities

• • Develop and implement an environmental justice curriculum and advocacy campaign
  • Recruit 15 teens to participate in the program and support them through weekly meetings or workshops
  • Execute the program by collaborating with partners through weekly meetings
  • Recruit and schedule guest speakers to engage with teen leaders and speak at program events
  • Coordinate litter audits and community clean-ups
  • Work with graphic designer and videographer to design advertising materials and videos

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• Knowledge of environmental justice issues
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• An interest in and commitment to community service and environmental justice
• The desire to work with diverse constituencies
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Professional and mature
• Bilingual (Vietnamese, Spanish) and bicultural a plus
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or permanent resident
• Must be willing to comply with a criminal background check
